Visa in Switzerland for International Students
Switzerland’s academic year consists of two semesters: the fall semester from September to December, and the spring semester from February to June. Deadlines for applications vary depending on the university or study program, but typically fall in the spring semester for the upcoming academic year. Students seeking to study in Switzerland must first determine the type of visa they require, either a “C visa” or a “D visa.” If the course of study is longer than three months, a “D visa” is necessary. To apply for a visa, students must first find and be accepted into a course at a university or equivalent institution. To complete the visa application, students must submit several documents, such as a completed and signed application for a long-stay visa, photographs, a valid passport, a letter of acceptance from a Swiss institution, proof of health insurance, proof of fee payment, evidence of sufficient funds to cover living expenses during the study period, a CV, a motivation letter, and a commitment to leave Switzerland after completing the program, among others
